Netflix Confirms Production of New Series 'Gwaen-dang' Set in Jeju... Casting Includes Han Seok-kyu, Yoon Kye-sang, and Choo Ja-hyun

Netflix has officially announced the production of a new series 〈Gwaen-dang〉 set in Jeju Island.

On the 21st, Netflix confirmed the production of 〈Gwaen-dang〉 and announced the main cast including Han Seok-kyu, Yoon Kye-sang, Choo Ja-hyun, Yoo Jae-myung, Kim Jong-soo, and Go Doo-shim.

'Gwaen-dang' is a word in the Jeju dialect meaning relatives. The story unfolds around a fierce battle among the three families, the Bu, Yang, and Go, intricately intertwined within the unique Gwaen-dang culture of Jeju Island.

Han Seok-kyu will play the role of Bu Yong-nam, the real power of the Bu family that dominates the pig farming and horse racing industries. Yoon Kye-sang and Choo Ja-hyun will portray Bu Yong-nam's half-brother Bu Geon and Bu Yong-seon, respectively.

Yoo Jae-myung has been cast as Yang Kwang-ik of the Yang family, which has ventured into real estate development. Kim Jong-soo will play Go Dae-soo of the Go family, which previously succeeded in the casino business. Go Doo-shim, who is actually from the Go family in Jeju, will appear as a mysterious character known as 'Dae-pan Halmae.'

The production company has not yet announced a specific release schedule.
