Park Geun-hyung, Jung Dong-hwan, and Song Seung-hwan Star in the Play 'The Dresser' Opening at the National Theater in December

Veteran actors Park Geun-hyung, Jung Dong-hwan, and Song Seung-hwan will star in the play 〈The Dresser〉, which will be performed at the National Theater's Daloreum Theater from December 27 to March 1 of next year, as announced by the production company Nine Story on the 31st.

This production, co-hosted by Nine Story and the National Theater, is based on the play by playwright Ronald Harwood, which premiered in the UK in 1980. In Korea, it was first performed in 1984 by the Chunchoo Theater with the late Kim Gil-ho and Oh Hyun-kyung in the lead roles. It was produced at the National Jeongdong Theater from 2020 to last year and will reunite with audiences this year in a new production.

The story is set in a regional theater in England during World War II in 1942. As the theater company prepares for a performance of Shakespeare's 'King Lear', the lead actor begins to exhibit strange behavior, and amidst the chaos of air raid sirens, the actors and staff struggle to put on the show.

In the casting, Park Geun-hyung and Jung Dong-hwan will play the role of the theater's veteran actor, referred to as 'the teacher'. Song Seung-hwan and Oh Man-seok will play the dresser Norman, who has assisted the teacher for 16 years and is responsible for costume changes. Notably, Song Seung-hwan played the teacher in the 2020 production and subsequent seasons but will take on the role of Norman this time.

The role of the teacher's counterpart, referred to as 'the lady', will be played by Song Ok-sook and Jung Jae-eun, while the theater's actor Jeffrey will be cast with Song Young-jae and Yoo Byung-hoon. The direction will continue to be led by Jang Yoo-jung, who has been at the helm since 2020.
