The film 〈Martial Law〉 deals with the shocking event where then-President Yoon Suk-yeol abuses national emergency powers and declares unconstitutional martial law across South Korea. This is the first declaration of martial law in 45 years since the October 26 incident in 1979, and it captures the moment when a night of insurrection, virtually no different from a 'coup d'état', begins.

A déjà vu of 70 years of modern history, 16 martial law declarations, and the unquenchable flame of citizen resistance. The 70 years of modern South Korean history is a drama of martial law and the citizen resistance against it. From the government of the first President Lee Seung-man to 2024, South Korea has declared martial law a staggering 16 times. Each time, the constitution was shaken, the freedom of the people was suppressed, and power was always placed under military boots. However, in every dark moment, citizens rushed into the streets with bare hands and bodies, silently holding candles and standing up.

The film 〈Martial Law〉 will revisit this painful past of our modern history. Beyond just the events of 2024, the spirit of the citizens who courageously resisted during the 16 martial law declarations will be reenacted once again on the night of December 3. This work will pose important questions that will remind us of the values of democracy in South Korea, going beyond a simple political thriller. The film will vividly depict the rapidly changing political landscape and the confusion among citizens immediately after the declaration of martial law. Meanwhile, the heart-stirring narration by actor Ahn Nae-sang and Member of Parliament Seo Young-kyo is expected to draw even more attention to this film. This work will not only feature the performances of actors but will also enhance the film's message with profound voices. Veteran actor Ahn Nae-sang, with his strong presence, and Member of Parliament Seo Young-kyo, who has been actively engaged in legislative activities in South Korea, will focus attention as the special narrators of the film. The documentary film 〈Martial Law〉 will be released nationwide this December.
