Comedian Park Mi-sun has revealed for the first time her 10-month battle with breast cancer. Appearing on tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' with her daughter on the 12th, Park Mi-sun moved viewers by sharing her family's dedicated caregiving and her own fighting spirit.
Surgery on Christmas Eve, 12 Chemotherapy Treatments
Park Mi-sun was diagnosed with breast cancer last December and underwent surgery on Christmas Eve, but due to metastasis to the lymph nodes, she began chemotherapy. Originally planned for 8 sessions, the chemotherapy increased to 12 sessions due to pneumonia after 4 sessions, and she successfully completed 16 sessions of radiation therapy afterward.
Park Mi-sun recalled the painful moments during chemotherapy, saying, "It was treatment to live, but I felt like I was going to die". She continued, "I am a breast cancer patient who cannot use the word complete recovery" and explained her current state, saying, "I have to live always being careful and getting checked".
Daily 'Mom's Battle Diary' Without Missing a Day
During the broadcast, her daughter revealed that she had recorded her mother's battle diary without missing a single day during chemotherapy, which brought tears to viewers' eyes. Her daughter expressed her feelings, saying, "Honestly, I was scared too, but since mom was the most scared, I thought I had to stay strong and keep my spirits up".
In particular, Park Mi-sun and all the viewers were moved to tears by her daughter's confession, "I always slept with the door open to check if something happened in the early morning". Park Mi-sun shared that "my family did not cry in front of me" and that their strong support and the changed appearance of her husband Lee Bong-won were a great source of strength.
After officially returning to activities after 10 months of hiatus due to health issues, Park Mi-sun showed her characteristic positivity, saying, "I even enjoyed getting my hair shaved", raising expectations for her future activities.
