Na Young-seok's Team, Netflix's First Collaboration 'Kenya's Three Meals' Set to Premiere on November 25

The popular variety show 'New Journey to the West' spin-off 'Kenya's Three Meals' from Na Young-seok's team is set to be released on Netflix on November 25, generating high expectations from viewers. This project is also noteworthy as it is the first program that Na Young-seok's team is collaborating on with Netflix.

The Realization of the 'Nostalgic Lottery Ticket' Product After 6 Years

'Kenya's Three Meals' is a project that originated from 'tvN New Journey to the West 7', which aired in 2019. At that time, the team of Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, and Kyuhyun, who won in a retro racing game, used the nostalgic lottery ticket, and Kyuhyun drew number 88 and won the 'Kenya Giraffe Hotel Accommodation Voucher', which started the project. The subtitles at that time included reactions from 'Soo-geun with a fear of flying' and 'Ji-won with a fear of giraffes', which made fans laugh.

In October 2020, the trip to Kenya was officially announced through Channel 15's social media, but the actual production was delayed due to various circumstances, including the COVID-19 pandemic. However, after 6 years, Na Young-seok PD and the production team secretly resumed the project, and in May of this year, the three members, Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, and Kyuhyun, flew to Kenya and filmed for about a week.

Na Young-seok's Team's New Challenge and Anticipation for the Return of 'New Journey to the West'

Netflix officially released a teaser trailer on October 27, confirming the release date as November 25. In the teaser, the three members wore colorful patterned outfits, exuding the exotic atmosphere of Kenya.

Kim Ye-seul, the PD of Egg is Coming who directed 'Kenya's Three Meals', mentioned the highlights during the media event for 'Netflix Variety Festival 2025' last September. PD Kim stated, "The divine tiki-taka and ad-libs of Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, and Kyuhyun will be the fun points". Additionally, she said, "The journey to the great nature of Kenya captured many awe-inspiring landscapes" and urged viewers to "look forward to the moments when the cast meets giraffes".

With the production of 'Kenya's Three Meals', anticipation for the return of the 'New Journey to the West' series, which has been on a break for over 4 years since Season 8 in 2020, is also rising. It remains to be seen whether 'Kenya's Three Meals' will be the starting signal for the production of Season 9. Among the three members, Eun Ji-won and Kyuhyun will be working with Na Young-seok PD for the first time in about 2 years and 10 months since 'Look at My Shoulder, It's Dislocated', while Lee Soo-geun will be collaborating with him for the first time in 4 years and 4 months since 'New Journey to the West Special Spring Camp'.
