Media Castle has garnered attention by officially unveiling its lineup for the first half of 2026, including 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉, 〈Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight〉, 〈The Lamb in the Box〉, and 〈The World of Unrequited Love〉.
Throughout 2025, Media Castle has showcased well-made content such as 〈The Lonely Gourmet: The Movie〉, 〈Exit 8〉, and 〈National Treasure〉, and has now officially revealed its lineup for the first half of 2026. Notably, this lineup is filled with new works from veteran creators that the world is paying attention to, including 〈Monster〉 screenwriter Yuji Sakamoto's 〈The World of Unrequited Love〉 and the globally renowned Hirokazu Kore-eda's 〈The Lamb in the Box〉.


First, the official selection for the Open Cinema of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉, will be officially released in South Korea in the first half of 2026. The live-action adaptation of Makoto Shinkai's animated film, 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉, depicts the time from the protagonist 'Takaki's' elementary school days to his life as a working adult. Hoku Matsumura, who gained recognition for his role as 'Sota' in 〈Suzume's Door Lock〉, plays the role of 'Takaki', and the theme song is by Japan's leading singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, drawing significant attention.
The production team behind the sensational hit 〈Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight〉, which surpassed 1.21 million viewers in South Korea, has come together once again. 〈Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight〉 is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Misaki Ichijo, led by director Takahiro Miki, with the production team from 〈Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight〉 reuniting to create buzz. Additionally, the hottest idol actor in Japan, Shunsuke Michieda, is also involved. 〈Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight〉 is set to meet Korean audiences in the first half of 2026, highly anticipated by MZ generations in both Japan and Korea.


The new work by the world-renowned director Hirokazu Kore-eda, 〈The Lamb in the Box〉, will also be unveiled in the first half of 2026. Known for expressing human emotions beautifully in films like 〈Our Little Sister〉, 〈A Family〉, and 〈Monster〉, Kore-eda serves as the original creator, director, screenwriter, and editor for this film, starring Haruka Ayase and Daigo, and it has already captured global attention upon its launch.
Yuji Sakamoto's new work 〈The World of Unrequited Love〉, which won the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival for 〈Monster〉, is also set to meet Korean audiences in the first half of 2026. This film tells the story of three people who have lived together in an old house on the outskirts of Tokyo for 12 years, focusing on their unrequited love. Director Nobuhiro Doi, who collaborated with Sakamoto on 〈A Love Like a Bouquet〉, reunites with Sakamoto for this project. Additionally, the film features some of the hottest actors in Japan today, including Suzu Hirose, Hana Sugisaki, Kaya Kiyohara, and Ryusei Yokohama, promising a fantastic ensemble performance.
