Actress Moon Ga-young has been appointed as the ambassador for the Malaysia Hallyu Expo.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) held the '2025 Kuala Lumpur Hallyu Expo Ambassador Appointment Ceremony' at their headquarters and appointed actress Moon Ga-young as the ambassador. Moon Ga-young will serve as the ambassador representing the '2025 Kuala Lumpur Hallyu Expo (Korea Brand & Entertainment Expo 2025, Kuala Lumpur)' to be held in Malaysia starting December 11.
The 'Hallyu Expo' is a representative event that combines K-consumer goods and cultural content based on the recognition of Hallyu to spread a virtuous cycle export structure of culture and industry, which KOTRA has been holding annually since 2010. This year's host country, Malaysia, is gaining attention as a forward market in the Global South and is emerging as a key area for the expansion of K-consumer goods exports. It is also evaluated as a country with high popularity of Hallyu in the ASEAN region and is the chair country of the ASEAN Summit this year.
As the appointed ambassador, Moon Ga-young is expected to actively participate in various programs such as the opening ceremony, fan signing events, and donation campaigns held over three days starting December 11 to widely promote the positive image of Korean culture. Moon Ga-young expressed her feelings, saying, "I am honored to be part of the Malaysia Hallyu Expo as the ambassador, the chair country of ASEAN this year, and I want to introduce Korean culture better to local fans and the public."
Moon Ga-young is set to meet audiences at the end of the year through the movie 〈Once We Were Us〉 which will be released on December 31.
