As the release date of December 10 approaches, emerging director Kwon Yong-jae's family comedy-drama 〈The Price of Goodbye〉 has unveiled four character posters that reveal the inner thoughts of the family members.

The family comedy-drama 〈The Price of Goodbye〉, which depicts a family's fake funeral business to fund their nephew's medical school tuition with the father's funeral money, is the feature debut of emerging director Kwon Yong-jae. 〈The Price of Goodbye〉 is a deep exploration of the 'family' that no one can choose, intertwined by blood, blending immersive suspense and black comedy. It has been invited to the Festival Choice section of the Seoul Independent Film Festival 2025, which opened on the 27th, and is receiving rave reviews as a well-made work.

In particular, the film features Kang Mal-geum, who has been active across films and TV, including 〈Lobby〉, 〈Chansili is Not Lucky〉, the Netflix series [The Great Deception], and the MBC drama [Red Sleeve Cuff], alongside Bong Tae-kyu, who has enhanced dramatic immersion in various genres with his unique performances in SBS dramas [Penthouse], [Return], and the film 〈Mina Stationery Store〉, portraying the bitter reality of siblings. Veteran actor Jang Ri-woo, who has been active in numerous independent films, the promising new actor Jeong Sun-beom, and the uniquely present Yang Mal-bok actor complete the high-density family chemistry. Director Kwon Yong-jae, who harmoniously orchestrated this, is gaining attention as the most accomplished debut feature director of the year with his smooth script and solid direction that capture 'fun', 'meaning', and 'chemistry'.

The four character posters released prominently feature dialogues that reveal each character's realistic inner thoughts as the killing point. The blue ribbon surrounding them, reminiscent of the black ribbon of a portrait, symbolically complements the fake funeral situation they are in. Additionally, the gazes of the four characters, 'Seon-young', 'Il-hwa', 'Hyo-yeon', and 'Dong-ho', directed in different directions, convey the subtle emotional texture surrounding the funeral. In particular, the individually placed dialogues such as "To protect anyone, you need money", "Let's hurry up the funeral just this once", "Our father gave us a surprise gift", and "I also... wish my dad would die" heighten curiosity about how each family member's perception of reality collides and intertwines. Even with just the highly concentrated dialogues of the four characters, the audience can sense the inner thoughts of their relationships. Furthermore, it stimulates curiosity about what choices this family, gathered for their own reasons surrounding a family member's death, will face in the future. The bittersweet taste of the family, the family comedy-drama 〈The Price of Goodbye〉, will be available in theaters nationwide starting December 10.
