On the 6th, through his agency, People Entertainment, he stated, “First, I sincerely apologize to everyone who has believed in and supported me for disappointing them due to my past misdeeds,” and added, “I humbly accept all criticism and intend to cease all activities today, putting an end to my career as an actor.” He concluded with, “Once again, I sincerely apologize. I am grateful to all whom I love and respect.”

The controversy surrounding Jo Jin-woong intensified after a media outlet revealed on the 5th that he had spent time in a juvenile detention center for vehicle theft and sexual assault allegations during his high school years. Additionally, claims surfaced that he had assaulted a fellow member during his time in a theater troupe after becoming an adult, resulting in a fine, and there were suspicions regarding his driver's license being revoked due to drunk driving.
