Johan Renck, who directed 〈Chernobyl〉, will take on the live-action adaptation of 〈Assassin's Creed〉.

According to the media outlet 'Variety', on December 23 (local time), director Johan Renck will helm the Netflix original series 〈Assassin's Creed〉. Johan Renck previously directed 〈Chernobyl〉, winning the Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series and Directing. He has also directed episodes of 〈Breaking Bad〉 and 〈The Walking Dead〉.

〈Assassin's Creed〉 is based on the game series of the same name and tells the story of an assassin group that saves the world. They are called 'Assassins', but they are depicted as unsung heroes in history, tasked with protecting human autonomy against the Templar Order, which seeks to control the world from the shadows. The series has been popular since new installments have been released from 2007 to the present in 2025.

Meanwhile, 〈Assassin's Creed〉 had already confirmed its casting prior to the director's announcement. Toby Wallace, who appeared in 〈Euphoria〉, and Lola Petticrew from 〈Dating Amber〉 have been cast as the leads.
