Dakota Johnson's passion for 〈Daddio〉 has been revealed, drawing attention.
The film 〈Daddio〉 features her (Dakota Johnson) getting into a taxi driven by Clark (Sean Penn) at New York's JFK Airport, where she gradually reveals the secrets she has hidden deep in her heart through their conversation, ultimately facing unexpected comfort. It is known that Dakota Johnson, who plays the role of her, also took part as a producer, contributing to the completion of the work.
Despite being on the 'Black List' (the best screenplays that have not been produced), 〈Daddio〉 faced a long struggle to actually get produced due to its unconventional structure, which carries the entire film through the dialogue between the two characters. As a producer, Dakota Johnson determined that to keep this dense psychological drama engaging, an actor with an overwhelming aura was needed, and she thought of Sean Penn as the perfect fit.
Dakota Johnson personally visited Sean Penn's house, who is also her neighbor, to deliver the script, and Sean Penn reportedly read it in one sitting and decided to participate the very next day. He stated, "I hadn't felt any fun on movie sets recently, but reading this script reignited my passion to act. There was no reason not to join this special conversation," expressing strong confidence in the project.
Sean Penn not only offered his home for rehearsals but also taped a small mirror to a broom handle instead of a rearview mirror to closely replicate the limited space of a taxi, practicing repeatedly in his daily life. Dakota Johnson remarked, "Sean Penn's performance was unique, completed in a way that only he could do. It was a great honor to witness that," paying tribute to his acting skills. 〈Daddio〉 will be released in South Korea on January 28th.
