
The documentary film 〈Mr. Kim Goes to the Cinema〉 directed by Kim Dong-ho, the former executive director of the Busan International Film Festival, is set for an exclusive release at Megabox on February 19, along with the official poster and trailer. 〈Mr. Kim Goes to the Cinema〉 is Kim Dong-ho's first feature-length documentary, capturing the current state of theaters and films from the perspective of a filmmaker after his retirement from public office. He personally takes the camera to various countries, visiting theaters and international film festivals, listening to the memories and current concerns about theaters and films from the filmmakers he meets there.

The 88-year-old 'film youth' Kim Dong-ho met with over 100 filmmakers for this project. Amidst the film industry facing a new phase both domestically and internationally, the film features a diverse array of individuals, from world-renowned masters contemplating communication with audiences to filmmakers adapting to the times and theater managers seeking new survival methods. Notably, it includes directors Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook, and Bong Joon-ho, as well as internationally acclaimed Hiroshi Koreeda, the Dardenne brothers, Luc Besson, and Chai Ming-liang, all of whom are prominent figures in the film festival circuit. 〈Mr. Kim Goes to the Cinema〉 captures the journey of Kim Dong-ho, who still loves theaters and films, and will serve as an emotional record reflecting on the essence of theaters and the sustainability of cinema. Director Kim Dong-ho is a diplomat of Korean cinema and a cultural giant. He has continuously introduced works, directors, and actors at international film festivals, creating a flow for Korean cinema to enter the global stage, and has nurtured the Busan International Film Festival as a representative Asian film festival. In 2024, a documentary titled 〈Film Youth, Dong-ho〉 (directed by Kim Ryang) was officially invited to the 77th Cannes Film Festival, but this is the first time he has directed a feature film himself. As an invited work in the 'Special Screening' section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, 〈Mr. Kim Goes to the Cinema〉 holds special significance as a memory of a generation and a record of the times, and will be available at Megabox on February 19.
