'K-Demon Hunters' OST 'Golden' Wins at the 68th Grammy Awards... A Milestone for K-Pop's First Songwriter Award

K-Pop has crossed the high threshold of the Grammy Awards. The original soundtrack (OST) 'Golden' from the Netflix animated film 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has set a new milestone in the history of Korean popular music by winning an award at the 68th Grammy Awards.

At the Grammy Awards premiere ceremony held in Los Angeles, USA, on the afternoon of the 1st local time, 'Golden' took home the trophy for 'Best Song Written For Visual Media'(Best Song Written For Visual Media).

This award marks the first achievement for the K-Pop genre on the Grammy stage. 'Golden' has created a global phenomenon by topping both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart simultaneously alongside the film's box office success.

The Grammy Award for 'Best Song Written For Visual Media' is an award that evaluates the creative capabilities of songwriters and composers, with EJAE(EJAE), Teddy, 24, and IDIO (Lee Yoo-han, Kwak Joong-kyu, Nam Hee-dong) among the winners.

In the Korean popular music scene, there have been instances where music engineer Hwang Byeong-jun and Korean-American Youngin received Grammy trophies, but this is the first time that a pure K-Pop songwriter and producer has won.

Immediately after the award, producer 24 expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, "I dedicate this honor to my greatest mentor and closest friend, the 'Pioneer of K-Pop' (K-Pop's pioneer) Teddy hyung who could not be here with us."

Meanwhile, at the awards ceremony, 'Golden' along with BLACKPINK's Rosé's 'Apartment' and Cat's Eye's 'Gabriella' were nominated for 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance', but the final award went to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for the film 〈Wicked〉 OST 'Defying Gravity'.
