Choi Ji-woo Starring 'Sugar', Reaching Beyond the Screen to the National Assembly... Leading Improvements in Type 1 Diabetes Regulations

〈Sugar〉 has reached the National Assembly through numerous sponsorship relays.

The movie 〈Sugar〉 is a human drama based on a true story that captures the intense love and growth of a mother, Mira (Choi Ji-woo), who created medical devices herself to overcome legal and regulatory barriers for her son diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It has garnered much attention as Choi Ji-woo's return to the screen. After its release on January 21, many were moved by the sincerity conveyed in the film, and the production company revealed, "The screening that started from the heartfelt intentions of actress Choi Ji-woo and director Noh So-young is creating a warm wave as it connects with fellow actors, companies, and the National Assembly."

Starting with the 'Third 〈Sugar〉 Miracle Screening' held at CGV Seomyeon in Busan on the 3rd, actress Yoo Ho-jung will rent a screening room in her name to invite audiences. Thanks to the warm hearts of the actors, the digital healthcare company Kakao Healthcare has also responded by holding Miracle Screenings on the 5th and 9th.

Particularly noteworthy is the screening on the 8th (Sunday) at CGV Apgujeong. This event, sponsored by the Korean Type 1 Diabetes Patient Association, was made possible by the meaningful participation of Democratic Party lawmaker Seo Mi-hwa. This momentum will continue into the National Assembly. On February 11 (Wednesday), a screening of 〈Sugar〉 and a discussion will be held at the National Assembly. Organized by the digital healthcare company Soldoc, this event will include type 1 diabetes patients and their families, as well as lawmakers from both parties and officials from government agencies such as the Ministry of Health and Welfare. After the film screening, a discussion aimed at improving regulations related to type 1 diabetes is expected to follow, raising hopes that the movie 〈Sugar〉 will serve as a catalyst for substantial social change beyond mere viewing.
