The King’s Affection Officially Invited to the Main Competition Section of the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy

The film The King’s Affection has created a box office sensation, attracting 4.4 million viewers in domestic theaters, and is gaining international attention as it has been officially invited to the main competition section of the Udine Far East Film Festival, the largest Asian film festival in Europe, which will be held in April.

Distributor Showbox announced on the 20th that The King’s Affection has been invited to the main competition section of the 28th Udine Far East Film Festival, which will take place in the northern Italian city of Udine from April 24 to May 2.

The Udine Far East Film Festival is the largest Asian film festival in Europe, held annually, where many Korean films such as The Night Owl, DELIVER US FROM EVIL, and The Man Standing Next have met European audiences.

Director Jang Hang-jun has a special connection with this festival, having won the Audience Award for his previous work Rebound, making this invitation particularly meaningful.

Sabrina Baracetti, the festival's executive director, explained the selection background, stating, "Director Jang and the outstanding actors worked in fantastic harmony and synergy, resulting in a work that conveys deep resonance while also being entertaining. This film, based on real events, was completed in a balanced tone so that audiences around the world can comfortably empathize and enjoy it."

Starring actor Yoo Hae-jin, The King’s Affection tells the story of King Danjong of the Joseon Dynasty, who spends the last period of his life with the villagers in his place of exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, after being deposed. It is also performing well domestically, surpassing 4.4 million cumulative viewers as of the 19th and continuing its box office success.
