'Boyfriend on Demand' Jisoo, "Scenes in Reality Last a Lot Longer in Memory than in the Virtual World"

As the Netflix series 〈Boyfriend on Demand〉 is causing a global sensation, Jisoo, who played the main character Mirae, shared her affectionate thoughts about the work on the 19th.

Jisoo portrayed a webtoon PD, Mirae, who gains the courage to love again after experiencing the pain of a breakup, resonating greatly with viewers. Q. Are there any memorable reviews among the reactions from viewers and those around you?

I’ve heard that it felt more realistic than expected and that people watched it while relating. Especially the responses that they empathized with the moments of fear to start anew after experiencing the pain of past love resonate with me. Some said the emotions and struggles that Mirae feels seemed like looking at their own reflection. I felt good that the time I spent contemplating the character of Mirae was well conveyed. However, I also wanted to convey that I hope they don’t hurt for too long because of past love.

Q. Can you tell us about the process of creating the character with Director Kim Jung-sik?

Mirae is a character who unexpectedly finds comfort in the 'Boyfriend on Demand' service due to her weary heart but also experiences wounds in that process. I think we talked a lot about how Mirae overcomes her wounds and moves forward. We continuously discussed how Mirae might feel and what she might think in each scene, facing the dichotomy between reality and fiction.

Q. What are each other's strengths and the atmosphere on set?

Since it’s a romance genre, I thought chemistry with the co-star was important, and I’m always thankful that Seo In-guk made me feel comfortable and took good care of me. I think I enjoyed filming. We had discussions together before shooting and talked about how each character feels during lines. We tried to match our outfits according to the changing relationship between the two characters as well. Above all, Seo In-guk got along well with all the staff on set, so there was always laughter on the set, which I think contributed to creating many great scenes. Personally, he was a talented actor from whom I learned a lot, and I think everyone who shot with him felt similarly. (laughs)

Q. What is your favorite scene from 〈Boyfriend on Demand〉?

While many scenes come to mind, I remember the scene in front of Mirae's house on a snowy day where Kyung-nam and Mirae confirm their feelings for each other. When Mirae, fearing the end of a relationship, hears Kyung-nam ask, "Is it that bad to change?", it feels like a pivotal moment that changes Mirae’s perspective. Of course, Kyung-nam approaching directly beforehand also played a role. (laughs) There are many exciting scenes in the virtual world, but personally, I think the scenes in reality last longer in memory.

I think 〈Boyfriend on Demand〉 is a story that contains both excitement and realistic emotions. I hope viewers remember it fondly for a long time in their own ways.
