Park Subong, the writer of the popular Naver Webtoon “The Girl from Class,” is set to be adapted into a live-action drama.
On the 14th, production companies Double Blue Studio and 21 Studio said they have confirmed the casting of actors Kim Myung-jun, Jinni, and Lee Ye-in, and have begun full-scale production for the drama 〈The Girl from Class〉.
〈The Girl from Class〉 is a youth romance about a classmate girl who keeps stealing someone’s attention during every class period, and a boy who, in front of those feelings, struggles at first but undergoes a sincere, heartfelt change. Based on the fresh emotions of the original work, the drama will unfold the story of school days in familiar settings such as classrooms, the rooftop, and cafes. Directed by Park Chan-hoon.
Actor Kim Myung-jun has been cast as the lead “boy.” Previously, in dramas 〈The Good Detective〉, 〈You Are My Spring〉, and 〈Melody’s My Type〉, among others, he showed a wide range of performances, and in this project he will portray the awkward sincerity of youth and the emotional arc.
The girl beside him who steals the boy’s attention will be played by Jinni, a former member of the girl group NMIXX, who recently debuted on the big screen through the film 〈Boy〉. Alongside her, Lee Ye-in, who appeared in web dramas 〈Short Script〉 and the variety show 〈High School Mystery Club 2〉, joins the cast as “a female friend” in the story, leading yet another line of emotions for the work.
The ensemble drama 〈The Girl from Class〉, set to premiere in May, is expected.
