An Unprecedented Artistic Evolution Showcased by ‘Jang Ki-ha’

Singer ‘Jang Ki-ha’ will be unveiling his first solo full-length album ‘Sansanjakkak’, scheduled for release this September, for the first time at the 27th ‘Jeonju International Film Festival’. His agency, Duruduru Artist Company, announced on the 17th that starting next month on the 1st through the 3rd, the festival will present his new project to the public for the very first time through the ‘Jeonju International Film Festival’.

The core of this project is the short film of the same name, ‘Sansanjakkak’. The film includes Jang Ki-ha’s new song in full, and it will be screened once per day from May 1 to May 3. In particular, on May 1 and May 2, a talk session (GV) with ‘Jang Ki-ha’ in attendance is planned, where he intends to share behind-the-scenes stories from the album-making process directly with viewers.

Expanding a Singular Musical World—His First Solo Full-Length Following a Decade of Band Activity

He debuted in 2008 with the band ‘Jang Ki-ha and Faces’, carving out an unmistakable milestone in the Korean popular music scene over 10 years. Even after he shifted to a solo career in 2018, he has continued to explore new musical directions without pause. As this new release is his first solo full-length work prepared with great care over a long period, it is drawing overwhelming anticipation from both the public and critics alike.

From Poetry to Silent Film, and Then to Music… Completing a Bold Creative Work

The album ‘Sansanjakkak’ is unconventional from the very beginning, right down to its creative method. He carried out a daring artistic experiment that starts with poetry, moves through a silent film, and ultimately comes together as music. ‘Jang Ki-ha’ revealed his distinctive process, saying through his recent performances, “I worked on the album for about two years. After taking a deep look into my inner self and writing poetry, I produced a silent film with director ‘Mogesu’, and then completed music with the same running time as the film.”

The agency said, “This unconventional approach reflects ‘Jang Ki-ha’’s deep consideration of his accumulated experience in film music and the new artistic form he is pursuing. We will clearly be able to confirm the evolution of the artist ‘Jang Ki-ha’, who has continuously shattered the boundaries between film and music, as well as between acting and performance, while infinitely expanding his own world.”
