Jeonju International Film Festival to Present a Special Retrospective on “Ahn Sung-ki, Slightly Unfamiliar”
The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival will hold a special retrospective examining Ahn Sung-ki, the nation’s actor, a symbol of Korean cinema.
The Jeonju International Film Festival Organizing Committee announced on the 26th that it will present the special retrospective 'Meeting a Slightly Unfamiliar Ahn Sung-ki', planned in cooperation with the Korea Film Archive. The event is designed to focus on the distinctive acting range behind the familiar image that has been formed in the public’s mind.
Seven Works to Be Screened: From Independent Films to Art Films
A total of seven works scheduled for screening include 'Our Happy Young Days', 'The Man Is Tormented', 'The Sleeping Man', 'The Stranger', 'Fair Love', 'Broken Arrow', 'Film-era Love Story'.
These works follow in the footsteps of a master who elevated the dignity of Korean cinema to a new level, devoting himself to numerous independent films and art films beyond the framework of mainstream commercial cinema.
A Spring Film Festival in and Around Jeonju’s Film Street
The organizing committee said, “We prepared this opportunity to look back on and honor Ahn Sung-ki, the great actor who illuminated the history of Korean film,” and explained the purpose of the plan.
The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival, to be held in Jeonju City including the film district streets, will take place from the 29th of next month through May 8.
