Director Maggie Kang, who sparked a global craze with the Netflix animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” has found a strong partner for her Korean activities.
The agency of actor Ahn Hyo-seop, The Present Company, officially announced on the 23rd that it has signed an exclusive contract with Director Maggie Kang. Interestingly, Ahn Hyo-seop previously handled the voice acting for the protagonist Jin-woo in Director Maggie Kang’s debut work, “K-Pop Demon Hunters.” Their connection has thus blossomed into a shared path.
At The Present Company, actors with solid credentials—including Shin Se-kyung, Kim Seol-hyun, and Park So-dam —are signed. Through this agreement, The Present Company will take charge of Director Maggie Kang’s domestic activities, while the U.S. agency UTA will continue to support her international endeavors.
The agency said, “We plan to roll out a variety of projects based in Korea together with Director Maggie Kang,” adding, “We greatly expect the synergy with a director who has both creativity and a global sensibility in every aspect.”
Born in Korea and raised in Canada, Korean-born Director Maggie Kang rose to the ranks of world-renowned masters overnight with her debut film, “K-Pop Demon Hunters.” Following last year’s 83rd Golden Globe Awards—Best Animated Film, the work also achieved the feat of winning Best Animated Feature Film at this year’s March Academy Awards.
In addition, the original soundtrack “Golden” also swept the Golden Globe and the Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and even won “Best Song for Visual Media” at the Grammy Awards, showcasing overwhelming achievements in both film and music.
