On March 13, Netflix announced through its official social media account that it has begun work on the 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 sequel. The post revealed that Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, who co-wrote and co-directed the first installment, will be responsible for the script and direction of the sequel. 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 tells the story of the K-Pop idol group Huntrix, who protect the 'Hunmun' from the evil spirits and their leader, Guima. To break the Hunmun, Guima sends the Grim Reapers, the Idol Lion Boys (Saja Boys), and the leader of the Lion Boys, Jinwoo, approaches the leader of Huntrix, Lumi. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, this Netflix original animation was released in June 2025 and became the first in Netflix's history to surpass 300 million views, setting numerous box office records and gaining immense popularity.

In response, Netflix has stated that it is preparing various works utilizing the 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 IP. However, this is the first official announcement of production commencement, and it is currently reported that the goal is to release it in 2029. The first installment focused on Lumi's narrative, while it is speculated that the sequel will center around the narratives of the other two members of Huntrix, Mirana and Joy.
