J-POP band SUPER BEAVER joins Gintama's 20th-anniversary film project with theme song 'Sanzen'; releases music video inspired by protagonist Gintoki's life

A popular arc from the original is being remade with new animation… Opens on the 20th.

The theme song music video for the film 〈New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames〉 has been released.

Distributor SMG Holdings Co., Ltd. unveiled the theme song music video sung by Japanese rock band SUPER BEAVER (Super Beaver) on the 11th ahead of the release of 〈New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames〉, a 20th-anniversary project for the anime 〈Gintama〉.

The theme song title 'Sanzen' conveys the meaning "to shine brightly." SUPER BEAVER, who wrote, composed, and performed the song, is a four-piece rock band that previously handled theme songs for popular anime such as 〈Naruto: Shippuden〉 and 〈Haikyu!! TO THE TOP〉. Regarding this song, they explained, "We projected the protagonist Gintoki's inner convictions—things not visible from his outward appearance—and the influence he received from his teacher Yoshida Shoyo into the lyrics and the emotion."

The released music video pairs upbeat rock melodies with battle scenes of protagonist Gintoki and his group of allies fighting in the lightless underground city of Yoshiwara.

Opening on the 20th, 〈New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames〉 is a theatrical film that remakes a major arc from the original anime series known as the 'Yoshiwara in Flames' arc with newly produced animation and a CinemaScope aspect ratio. It depicts the showdown between the protagonist group and Housen, the ruler of the underground city of Yoshiwara where the laws of the surface do not apply.

Meanwhile, to commemorate the film's release, 〈Gintama〉's inaugural editor Kohei Onishi will visit South Korea to attend an audience talk (GV) and the Korean premiere screening event.
