The film 〈Dora〉 tells the story of a family who leave Seoul behind and settle into a seaside villa in mid-summer, as Dora—who has been ill with an unknown condition—comes to understand love for the very first time, and everything begins to slowly unravel.
〈Dora〉 held its world premiere at the Cannes Théâtre Croisette on May 17 (local time), leaving a strong impression from the moment of its first unveiling. Then the red carpet event on the evening of the 18th—an unusually rare schedule for a film in the Directors’ Fortnight lineup—made it clear just how high local expectations and interest in the film are in Cannes.

At the red carpet event, director Jung Juri and Kim Do-yeon and Ando Sakura appeared side by side, receiving an intense wave of flashes. The three captivated the attention of on-site reporters with their presence, fully conveying the unique vibe of 〈Dora〉, as they helped paint Cannes’ night in unforgettable color. In particular, Kim Do-yeon and Ando Sakura lit up the red carpet with a charm that was entirely different from the tension inside the film. As the director who led the third Cannes-selected work, director Jung Juri showcased a solid, unmistakable presence.
Director Jung Juri, following her feature debut 〈Do-hee-ya〉 (2014, a work worth paying attention to) and her second feature 〈Next So-hee〉 (2022, the closing film of Critics’ Week), was invited to the Cannes Film Festival once again with 〈Dora〉, placing all three of the feature-length works she has released over the past 12 years in Cannes. This is the first time in Korean film history that a female director has brought all three of her feature-length films to Cannes.

Having wrapped up with both a world premiere and a successful red carpet event at Cannes, the film 〈Dora〉 is scheduled for release in the second half of the year.
