Four-year debut anniversary “LE SSERAFIM”, the setting for a global festival that embraces mass appeal with a razor-sharp edge

Marking its four-year debut anniversary, “LE SSERAFIM” returned by releasing its regular second album, “PUREFLOW (pt.1)”, on the 22nd, and by coming back with the title track “BOOMPALA (BOOMPALA)”. The group, which has proven its weighty narrative of “a life without fear” and “getting stronger by overcoming adversity,” makes a new musical leap this time—aiming to maximize mass appeal.

The title track “Boompala” is a Latin house genre that draws inspiration from the ideas of emptiness (空) and nothingness (無) contained in Buddhism’s “Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra.” In particular, it samples the megahit “Macarena” (Macarena), which dominated the world in the 1990s, delivering powerful catchiness that transcends generations and gender.

Member “Hong Eun-chae” said, “‘Macarena’ is a famous song everyone knows—it's a secret weapon anyone can enjoy,” and added that she wanted “to convey the message that by reinterpreting it in ‘LE SSERAFIM’’s own color, we should transform fear into fun.”

For this regular second album, “Pureflow”, the group took a step further from the bold declarations of its early debut and captured a mature sense of theme: “Knowing fear, we could become even stronger.” Member “Sakura” also emphasized the group’s internal growth, saying, “As we’ve carried out our activities, our understanding of one another has grown, and there’s been more ease within.”

“LE SSERAFIM” takes over Times Square—the next goal is entering stadiums

The main lyrics of the new song, “There’s nothing forever, so there’s nothing to be afraid of,” are a steadfast message of solidarity and encouragement aimed at “LE SSERAFIM” itself—following the past four years spent through a relentless, hard-fought period. Member “Huh Yun-jin” added, “Whenever anxiety and fear come over us, we shared our feelings with the members, formed solidarity, and overcame the crisis.”

After proving its overwhelming global status by decorating the Times Square stage in New York, United States, at the end of last year, “LE SSERAFIM” will begin its long journey on its second world tour, “Pureflow”, starting in Incheon this coming July. The group, which set a record for entering Tokyo Dome, has its next target: stadiums in South Korea. “Hong Eun-chae” said, “Standing on a stadium stage at home is a new goal,” and did not hide her fierce ambitions for entering Goyang Stadium Sports Complex.
