Netflix has confirmed production of the original series 〈Paper Man〉 and unveiled its cast.
〈Paper Man〉 is a crime drama about a man who has spent his life producing forgeries and never received recognition. After he produces a counterfeit banknote so flawless it fools everyone, he is drawn into a dangerous world. The series explores the value of money, human desire and the line between what society considers real and fake. Director Lee Il-hyeong, who directed the films 〈A Violent Prosecutor〉 and 〈Remember〉 and the Netflix series 〈Karma〉, will helm the project and helped adapt the script. The script was written by Kim Bong-ju.
Cho Jung-seok will play Cha Myeong-jo, who works at a company that makes knockoff character stickers. Overshadowed by his accomplished wife, a judge, Myeong-jo has long been the family head in name only. That changes when he unexpectedly creates a counterfeit bill so flawless that no one can distinguish it from the real thing, awakening a dangerous ambition.
Park Hae-soo will portray Oh Seung-eop, the lead anti-counterfeiting researcher in the Mint's counterfeit investigation unit. With sharp judgment and relentless persistence, he closes in on Myeong-jo, heightening the drama's tension.
Claudia Kim will play Go Hye-seok, Cha Myeong-jo's wife and an elite judge. Hye-seok is calm and resolute; the role will depict the family fractures and the practical strains beneath a seemingly perfect life.
〈Paper Man〉, a story of money, desire and a family coming apart at the seams, is jointly produced by Covenant Pictures and Fine Town Production and will stream on Netflix.
