A new milestone for K-pop: Entering Tokyo’s National Stadium and commanding overwhelming global ticket power
A massive roar that will shake up K-pop’s map of influence is underway. The group ‘Stray Kids’ kicks off the grand opening of its new world tour ‘RUN IT’ with Seoul as the starting point. JYP Entertainment officially confirmed this sweep on the 23rd, sending adrenaline surging among music fans around the world.
The legendary starting point is Seoul. ‘Stray Kids’ will ignite the tour engine by blasting out a total of five solo concerts at the Olympic Park’s ‘KSPO Dome’ on July 25, 26, 29 and August 1, 2. After that, it rolls through global key cities in a carpet-bombing pattern, beginning with Tokyo’s National Stadium in Japan in August, followed by Nagoya and Osaka in September, Fukuoka in October, Hong Kong and Taipei in December, Bangkok in January next year, and Singapore in March. With announcements of additional dates still under wraps, the tour’s scale is expected to reach another all-time high.
The most eye-catching achievement is its arrival at ‘Tokyo’s National Stadium’. They set a historic record by becoming the first overseas male artists to take their place—independently—on Japan’s largest-scale symbolic stage. They are forecast to draw as many as 370,000 fans across just seven shows in the archipelago, a decisive indicator that backs up ‘Stray Kids’ and its destructive ‘global ticket power’.
The successful completion of the world tour ‘dominATE’, which previously unfolded on a staggering scale of 35 regions and 56 shows worldwide, helped cement their global status. Their relentless drive for momentum now leads to a new musical evolution. On August 7, they will release a new mini-album, ‘THIS & THAT’, packed with even deeper musicality. Ahead of that, at 1 p.m. on the 24th, they will pre-release the track ‘RUN IT’, which shares the tour’s name, signaling a push to seize global charts.
Their domination of global festival stages is also ongoing. After taking the stage at Brazil’s biggest music festival ‘Rock in Rio’ on September 11, they will burn through their newly launched music festival ‘STRAYCITY’, staking their identity with consecutive performances. Already this month, on the 6th, they confidently headlined at the U.S. event ‘The Governors Ball’ in New York, performing mega hits like ‘DOMINO’ and ‘Chk Chk Boom’ in front of 45,000 audience members to completely take control of New York’s night.
