A Cinematic Utopia Awakens as Chuncheon Turns On Its Screen for a Midsummer Night
Nights in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, are set off by artistic inspiration. “13th Chuncheon Film Festival” will kick off in grand style from the 25th through the 28th at Megabox Namchuncheon and the area around Gongdyo Bridge. A total of 53 carefully selected masterpieces are ready to welcome audiences.
At the heart of it all is the ever-popular “Audience Talk (GV)”. A special program featuring director Kim Dae-woo, who has built a distinctive aesthetic with “Human Addiction” and “Hidden Face”, and a special appearance by Lee Jae-in, an actor from Gangwon, is set to pave the way for deep cinematic discourse.
The “Free Outdoor Screenings” along the riverside at Gongdyo Bridge will showcase “Becoming Kim”, “Matilda”, and “Troll”, maximizing the romance of a midsummer night. “Bommom Live” by young artist crews and a variety of hands-on experience booths will turn the event beyond simple viewing, completing a three-dimensional cultural community gathering.
As noted by Kim Mi-ae, head of the Culture and Arts division, this is a citizen-participation arts festival that goes beyond the screen. For these four days, culminating with a closing ceremony on the 28th, the journey offers the best chance to remember Chuncheon’s summer at its fullest.
