Is it a change in the weather, or a sign of shifting emotions… The original universe previewed by “Love Cloud”

KBS has put its strongest card on the table in next year’s drama lineup. It has audaciously cast actors Song Joong-ki and Park Ji-hyun as the leads in the new 2TV Saturday-Sunday miniseries “Love Cloud”, setting expectations for a box-office-style viewing surge.

The show stakes its claim on an outlandish fantasy romance. At the center is the story of an air traffic controller “Kang Woo-ju” (played by Song Joong-ki), who appears to visualize an estranged lover’s psychological state as weather, and a cursed pilot “Ahn Ha-ni” (played by Park Ji-hyun), who changes the real weather according to her own emotional ups and downs.

Playing Song Joong-ki as a controller who previously worked as a flight instructor, the drama is set to finely calibrate a complex emotional arc in which he reads his former lover’s feelings through weather phenomena. Meanwhile, Park Ji-hyun will unveil a bold acting transformation as a workaholic who is barreling toward promotion, delivering a three-dimensional character in which emotions become a real weather anomaly.

Above all, their ensemble is drawing heightened attention in the industry because it marks a meeting 4 years after “Reborn Rich” shook South Korea in 2022. In addition, Song Joong-ki’s move carries weighty symbolism as it is his return to KBS after 11 years, following the 2016 mega hit “Descendants of the Sun”.

The production team’s lineup further boosts confidence. The rising creative group “Team Mad Rabbit” holds the pen, and director Song Min-yeop, who proved exceptional mise-en-scène and meticulous directing through “Youth of May” and “High Cookie”, takes the megaphone to drive the show’s completion to its peak.
