Breaking the Boundaries Between Classical and K-Pop: The Opening Chapter of the “SMClassics” Global Tour

K-Pop’s limitless expansion meets the grandeur of classical music. Under SM Entertainment, the classical and jazz label “SMClassics” teams up with K-Pop’s distinctive vocalists “Super Junior Ryeowook” and “Red Velvet Wendy” to launch a large-scale “global tour”.

The tour’s overwhelming kickoff takes place on the 10th (local time) at the Esplanade—Theatres on the Bay in Singapore. On top of the refined melodies created by Singapore’s “Metropolitan Festival Orchestra”, “Red Velvet Wendy”’s graceful vocals will be layered, set to captivate the ears of local audiences. The momentum then heads straight to Thailand. At the stage with the “Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra” on the 12th at the Bangkok Prince Mahidol Hall, Wendy will make a surprise appearance, proving the essence of K-Pop vocals.

The musical connection spanning Asia reaches its peak on November 5 at Hanoi’s Ho Guom Opera House in Vietnam. On the tour’s finale stage, led by the “Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra”, “Super Junior Ryeowook” will step in as a guest performer. Ryeowook, who combines explosive singing power with delicate emotional lines, plans to present a new paradigm for K-classical music by delivering perfect synergy with a full-scale orchestral lineup.

Their cross-continental movement continues unabated into next year. On June 29 and 30, 2025, at Roy Thomson Hall in the heart of Toronto, Canada, “Toronto Symphony Orchestra” and Wendy reunite to zero in on North America. The “SMClassics” side plans to gradually reveal additional tour cities in the future, one after another. Beyond a simple crossover, this tour is drawing attention from music circles around the world for showcasing a complete fusion of popular music and pure music.
