Cha Tae-hyeon x Uhm Ji-won, the “Big Family” Couple with Five Siblings! Netflix Film “Bokjik Police” Confirmed for Production!

The detective Dong-sik (Cha Tae-hyeon), who has to take over full-time child care for five siblings in place of his wife Gyeong-ah (Uhm Ji-won), is pulled into a mission to wipe out a criminal organization.

Netflix has confirmed production of a new family action comedy film 〈Bokjik Police〉. The film follows Dong-sik, a detective who ends up taking full responsibility for raising five siblings while covering for his wife “Gyeong-ah,” who has slipped into a covert operation disguised as a trip. It’s an all-family, slapstick adventure action comedy that unfolds as Dong-sik gets drawn into an operation to crack down on a criminal organization.

With a promotion exam looming, detective “Dong-sik” becomes the caretaker of five siblings after his wife “Gyeong-ah” suddenly leaves for a trip. The role of Dong-sik is played by actor Cha Tae-hyeon. Drawing on his trademark approachable charm and solid acting skills—honed through films such as 〈Speed Scandal〉, 〈Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds〉, the series [Moving], and the variety show [Adventures of a Restaurant]—Cha Tae-hyeon has long won over audiences by moving seamlessly across film, drama, and variety programming. As a detective from the violent crimes unit and the father of five siblings, he will show a deeply human side. With a wide acting range that delivers both laughter and emotion, Cha Tae-hyeon is expected to win viewers over with cheerful humor and help build his own unmistakable character. Actress Uhm Ji-won, who has earned trust with delicate portrayals of emotion and exceptional acting, will take on the role of “Gyeong-ah,” Dong-sik’s wife and the mother of five siblings. Netflix series 〈Tangenum〉, 〈Time Fool〉, the drama [Postpartum Care Center], [Little Ladies], and the film 〈How to Steal a Love〉 show how Uhm Ji-won crafts a variety of characters without being boxed in by genre, each with her own distinct color. She will present a fresh transformation as “Gyeong-ah,” a former ace police officer who, currently in her 10th year of solo parenting, accepts a proposal for a covert National Intelligence Service operation in order to return to work. As Cha Tae-hyeon and Uhm Ji-won pair up for their first collaboration in 〈Bokjik Police〉, their lifelike portrayal of a couple—and the family chemistry to be created by the five siblings, each with their own personality: “Spring” (Do-young-seo), “Summer” (Kim Na-eun), “Autumn” (Jung Han-sol), “Winter” (Shim Ji-an), and “New Spring” (Kim Ra-hee)—is also expected to be another point of keen attention.

〈Bokjik Police〉 is directed by Kim Jong-hyeon, who has previously delivered both upbeat entertainment and heavy-hearted emotion through works including 〈Superstar Gam Sa-yong〉 and 〈National Representative 2〉. Kim Jong-hyeon plans to use 〈Bokjik Police〉 to convey action and comedy, along with family love that resonates and brings empathy.
