〈Biguang〉 key cast directly explained the meaning behind the title.

The film 〈Biguang〉 follows Jung-woo (Ryu Seung-ryong) and Nam-mi (Ha Ji-won), a top-star married couple, as their relationship falls apart after their suddenly shows up as their daughter Dong-ju (Kim Si-a). Eight years later, the story centers on Dong-ju getting caught in a shocking incident and the search for the truth to save her. 〈Biguang〉, which drew anticipation for the reunion of Ryu Seung-ryong, Ha Ji-won, and Kim Si-a, shares the meaning behind the title through the director and actors ahead of its release.

Drawing on the movie’s motive from the way families sit together and play go-stop, the title “Biguang” is ambiguous even in terms of being something that can be called “ordinary light,” and even when it might be considered “full light.” Still, it symbolizes the family unity and hope that the film aims to convey—something that is necessary in order to complete “the five lights.” Ryu Seung-ryong said, “The meaning is twofold: it’s not complete when you’re alone, but you gain real strength once you come together.” Ha Ji-won said, “It’s a compact title that contains the movie’s message. It also fits the work so well. It’s a presence you may not realize is precious, but you absolutely need at important moments—it’s something you can’t do without.” Kim Si-a also interpreted the meaning, saying, “When you’re alone, you’re nothing special, but when you’re together, you shine even more.”

Slated for release on Sept. 2, 〈Biguang〉 is Lee Ji-won’s new work following 〈Miss Baek〉.
