Gariwangsan gets just two days as outdoor film festival ‘Colony’ unfolds under the stars

A healing festival that combines nature and art and awakens the senses

Jeongseon County in Gangwon Province will host the Gariwangsan Outdoor Film Festival for two days, from the 12th to the 13th, around the Gariwangsan Cable Car. Held under the theme “Gariwangsan Revisited: An Autumn Night Painted by Film,” the event goes beyond movie screenings to create a cultural festival combining music, food and wellness.

Organized to mark the opening of the newly renovated Alpine Plaza, the festival is expected to offer tourists visiting Jeongseon a deeply immersive experience infused with the atmosphere of fall.

The main programs set to draw visitors during the event include:

• 12th (Day 1): A performance by a guest singer on the lawn plaza, followed by an outdoor screening of “Colony” at 7 p.m.

• 13th (Day 2): A local food market, street performances and hands-on activities including “outdoor yoga” and “singing bowl therapy”

• Special event: Singer Jeon Young-rok will hold an autograph session and talk concert at 2 p.m. at the Rock Café on the second floor of Alpine Plaza

In addition to a performance by Jeon Young-rok designed to stir nostalgia among middle-aged and older visitors, the kids cafe will screen animated films tailored to children for families, creating a festival where visitors of all generations can enjoy the event together.

Shin Won-sun, director of Jeongseon County’s tourism department, stressed, “I hope visitors will take in the magnificent autumn mountains from the Gariwangsan Cable Car and make unforgettable fall memories at the newly renovated Alpine Plaza.”
