Zero prearranged bookings: Producers warn they will take action against speculation
The production team behind 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 4', a variety show jointly aired by MBN and Channel S, has firmly rejected allegations that restaurants are booked in advance and situations are staged.
In a statement posted on the show's official social media accounts on the 14th, the producers dismissed reports that the program prearranged restaurants or staged situations, saying, "Reports claiming that the program booked restaurants in advance or staged situations based on unverified eyewitness accounts circulating online are plainly false."
The producers expressed particular regret over speculation that they said threatens the show's identity. "We never contact or negotiate with restaurant personnel in advance of filming, nor do we notify them beforehand that cast members such as 'Jeon Hyun-moo' or 'Kwak Tube' will be visiting," they said. "This is a core production principle we have upheld without exception from the program's launch to the present."
The controversy appears to have been fueled largely by an issue involving another program. MBC's observational variety show 'I Live Alone' previously acknowledged and apologized for allegations that an episode featuring 'Jeon Hyun-moo''s spontaneous trip to Kazakhstan had been manipulated. Unfounded speculation and eyewitness accounts then spread indiscriminately, particularly through online communities, claiming that 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 4' had likewise been staged.
In response, the 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 4' team said, "We deeply regret the current situation, in which manipulation and staging are being presented as established facts without any process to verify the claims." It warned, "We will actively correct the record and take strong action against those who expand and reproduce unfounded claims as if they were facts."
Meanwhile, 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan', which premiered in February 2024, presents itself as a 100% real food-travel series in which the cast sets off wherever their feet take them, without advance planning or bookings. Starting with Season 2, 'MBN' and 'Channel S' established a joint production system, winning a positive response from viewers.
