A romance master's unbelievable story: A sweet, perilous encounter with a fake leading lady

Singer and actor 'Jung Yong-hwa' and newcomer 'Hong Seung-hee' are bringing a one-of-a-kind romance to television. Lifetime officially announced on the 21st that its new Saturday-Sunday drama 'It's You, Without Rhyme or Reason' will premiere on the 24th of next month.

The romantic comedy follows a top star hiding a fatal flaw and a woman who mistakenly believes she is the leading lady in a drama. 'Jung Yong-hwa' plays 'Eom Tae-bong', a Korean Wave star who is widely regarded as a master of melodrama but, strangely, refuses to film kiss scenes. The role marks a multidimensional transformation for the actor.

Opposite him, 'Hong Seung-hee' plays 'Oh Hae-ra', who, after an unexpected accident, becomes convinced that she is Cha Hong-du, the leading lady in a drama starring 'Eom Tae-bong'. The pair's precarious relationship, which moves between reality and fiction, is the show's central hook.

The production team also brings impressive credentials. Byun Sang-soon, who demonstrated her strong writing skills with 'Two Cops', wrote the screenplay. 'Yoon Jong-ho', director of the hugely popular 'Lovely Runner', and Lee Seung-hoon, director of 'Dr. Shin', are co-directing the series. The industry is watching to see what kind of synergy emerges from the combination of an accomplished production team and an appealing cast.

Meanwhile, 'It's You, Without Rhyme or Reason' will also be available simultaneously to viewers worldwide through global over-the-top streaming service 'Viu'.
