'Boohwal' 40th Anniversary Legendary Stage Comes Home for Chuseok Special — Rock Spirit of 'Hee Ya' and 'Never Ending Story'

Four decades of rock forged through barren ground

A live performance capturing the 40-year musical journey of 'Boohwal', a living history of Korean rock, is coming to home screens. Production company 'January Corporation' said on the 23rd that the band's 40th anniversary concert will air on 'Channel A' at 9:10 p.m. on the 26th.

The broadcast captures the vivid onstage action from the 'Where Is Here' concert, which electrified Olympic Hall at Seoul Olympic Park last July. Formed in 1985 and debuting with its first album in 1986, 'Boohwal' is a landmark band that has defended rock's pride through numerous lineup changes and the ups and downs of the times.

The band boldly shattered the stereotype that rock music is rough and difficult. Lyrical lyrics reminiscent of poetry and distinctive melodies in songs including 'Hee Ya', 'The Story of Rain and You' and 'Never Ending Story' have become mega-hits that transcend generations.

Today, the band boasts tight chemistry as a complete four-piece lineup led by its central figure, 'Kim Tae-won' (leader and guitar), alongside 'Chae Je-min' (drums), 'Park Wan-kyu' (vocals) and 'Choi Woo-je' (bass). Onstage, they will prove the story of the past 40 years through explosive live sound.

The band's constant musical evolution also continues. 'Boohwal' demonstrated its enduring ability in March this year by releasing its '14th album', breaking a silence that lasted 14 years.

The live broadcast marking the return of the legendary band will bring the emotion of rock to audiences once again with a repeat airing at 7:30 p.m. on the 27th, following its initial broadcast on the 26th.
