Disney+’s ‘Made in Korea 2’: Seo Eun-soo reflects on finale — “Three years with Oh Ye-jin were a time of learning”

Actor Seo Eun-soo shared a heartfelt reflection as Disney+ original series 〈Made in Korea Season 2〉, directed by Woo Min-ho, came to an end.

〈Made in Korea Season 2〉 is a noir drama depicting Baek Ki-tae’s perilous journey as he spirals toward greater ambitions nine years later. Seo Eun-soo made a strong impression in the role of Oh Ye-jin, a principled prosecutor with sound judgment and agency in Season 2, following her portrayal of an investigator in Season 1.

In a post-finale interview, Seo Eun-soo said, “I was happy to spend three years, counting by calendar years, thinking about and portraying Oh Ye-jin. It was also a time when I learned a great deal.” She spoke fondly of the character. Describing Oh Ye-jin’s transformation between the two seasons, she said, “If Season 1 showed her as an action-oriented investigator trying to correct what was wrong, in Season 2 she grew into a prosecutor who directly questions things based on her own convictions.” She chose “straight ahead,” “bull,” and “persistence” as keywords to describe Oh Ye-jin.

She also added depth to the story by carefully portraying a range of emotions and conflicts, including Oh Ye-jin’s complicated feelings toward her mentor, Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung), whom she reunites with after nine years, as well as her interrogation of Choi Yu-ji (Won Ji-an). On the series, she worked alongside Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung, Woo Do-hwan, Won Ji-an, Jung Sung-il, Roh Jae-won and Cha Hee to create a distinctive ensemble.

After delivering a nuanced portrayal of a character guided by her own convictions, Seo Eun-soo will return to audiences with another transformation in her next project, tvN’s new drama 〈Gift〉.
