■ Files citing “irreconcilable differences,” seeks custody of daughter

According to court documents obtained Friday by TMZ, Mia Goth filed a divorce petition against Shia LaBeouf at a Los Angeles court late Thursday.

She listed “irreconcilable differences,” the customary Hollywood phrase, as the reason for the divorce. The documents identify July 28, 2025, as the official start date of their separation.

Mia Goth is seeking sole legal and physical custody of Isabel, the couple’s 4-year-old daughter. She also asked the court to waive any obligation for either her or Shia LaBeouf to pay spousal support.

■ Brawls, alcohol problems and police calls: An ending long in the making

The couple’s divorce was, to some extent, expected in Hollywood and beyond. Reports that they had been living apart for a long time circulated steadily in the foreign press beginning early this year.

People familiar with the matter said police were called to the couple’s Los Angeles home several times because of their arguments before the separation. Mia Goth reportedly urged Shia LaBeouf, who was struggling with severe alcohol addiction and problems controlling his emotions, to enter rehab. Their relationship ultimately broke down after he refused.

After the separation, Shia LaBeouf bought a house in New Orleans worth $1 million, or about 1.3 billion won, and moved there. But his erratic behavior continued after the move. In February, during Mardi Gras, he was arrested after getting drunk and fighting in the street, and was convicted of simple assault.

■ A brutal history of obsession and reunions over 12 years: Shia LaBeouf clashes again with new partner

Mia Goth and Shia LaBeouf first met in 2012 while working on director Lars von Trier’s film Nymphomaniac. For more than 12 years, they repeatedly broke up, reunited and went through dramatic reconciliations.

They held a surprise wedding in Las Vegas in 2016, but moved toward divorce once in 2018. They reunited in 2020 and appeared to settle down after welcoming their first daughter, Isabel, in 2022. But they ultimately chose to make a permanent break after failing to overcome LaBeouf’s long-standing violence and scandals.

Meanwhile, Shia LaBeouf has been enjoying public dates with his new girlfriend, Nicole Mumphrey, since splitting from Mia Goth. But he was recently filmed shouting at her and engaging in another heated argument on a street in Rome, Italy, offering a fresh glimpse of his continuing instability.
