‘Typhoon’ Sets Cast With Koo Kyo-hwan, Han Ji-min, Oh Jung-se, Han Sun-hwa, Kim Eung-soo, Oh Min-ae, Kim Yo-han and Choi Ji-soo

The film 〈Typhoon〉 (working title) has finalized its upbeat cast, led by Koo Kyo-hwan, Han Ji-min, Oh Jung-se, Han Sun-hwa, Kim Eung-soo, Oh Min-ae, Kim Yo-han and Choi Ji-soo. 〈Typhoon〉 is a disaster-escape comedy about Jin-mo (Koo Kyo-hwan) and Jae-yi (Han Ji-min), who have decided to break up, encountering a super typhoon at a relative’s wedding in their hometown.

Koo Kyo-hwan plays Jin-mo, an ordinary office worker from a small provincial city who graduated from S University and landed a job at a major corporation, only to remain stuck as a career assistant manager. In 〈Typhoon〉 (working title), Koo Kyo-hwan will showcase his trademark humanity as he transforms into a modern-day husband and father. Expectations are high for his performance in 〈Typhoon〉 (working title), especially after he helped drive the success of Korean films including 〈If It Were Us〉 and 〈The Colony〉.

Han Ji-min plays Jae-yi, the wife of Jin-mo, her maddening husband. Once a valued talent at a publishing house, she boldly quit after deciding that she could not balance work and child-rearing after marriage, and now dreams of becoming a YouTuber. In the film, Jae-yi uses the know-how from her “everyday life hacks” channel to find a way forward in each disaster, showing off her resourcefulness. The character’s capable, distinctive personality, combined with Han Ji-min’s signature warmth, promises to create a career-defining role.

Following the husband-and-wife pairing of Koo Kyo-hwan and Han Ji-min, whose chemistry is as intense as a typhoon, Oh Jung-se plays their friend Sang-hyuk. A hometown friend of Jin-mo and a 119 rescue worker, Sang-hyuk bravely risks his life to save the couple after they become trapped in the disaster, only to end up stranded with them. Oh Jung-se’s charming, free-spirited performance is set to be one of the film’s biggest draws.

Han Sun-hwa, who has won fans with her distinctive comic performances in the film 〈Pilot〉 and the dramas [Scandal] and [Work Later, Drink Now], plays Rose, the owner of a pension. She is a penny-pincher who refuses to offer a lodging discount even when a typhoon hits, but she is also a romantic who dreams of a love like the one in Titanic. Following the drama [Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness], she reunites with Koo Kyo-hwan and Oh Jung-se to work together again.

Kim Eung-soo, still remembered for his role as Kwak Chul-yong in the film 〈Tazza〉, and Oh Min-ae, who has left a strong impression in the drama [When Life Gives You Tangerines] and the film 〈Pilot〉, join the cast as Hyun-deok and Pil-ja, a couple who have traveled the country in a camper van for 48 years. Their bickering but caring relationship brings warmth to the story.

Kim Yo-han, who has drawn attention through the drama series [New Recruit], and Choi Ji-soo, who became known for the drama [Undercover Miss Hong], play a couple preparing to marry. They portray Dae-han and Cha-young, who meet Jin-mo and Jae-yi amid the disaster. Their cheerful scenes inject energy into the film as they proclaim their baseless belief that their married life will be happier than everyone else’s.

Lee Jung-ho, who directed the films 〈The Beast〉 and 〈The Wandering Blade〉, wrote and directed the film. The eight actors reportedly raised expectations for the full production with their polished performances and lively energy at a script reading held in late September.

〈Typhoon〉 (working title), which finalized its cast and began filming in October, is scheduled for release next year.
