Genius who broke the boundaries of J-pop returns to Korea

Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu will reunite with fans in Korea next January. Promoter Live Nation Korea announced on the 16th that Yonezu will hold solo concerts in Korea on Jan. 14, 16 and 17 next year at INSPIRE Arena in Incheon.

The shows are part of his new world tour, “GHOST,” and will feature a spectacular stage production across three performances. Yonezu is returning to Korea for the first time in about one year and 10 months, since March last year. His first concerts in Korea, held over two days, drew a total of about 22,000 fans, demonstrating his formidable ticket-selling power in the country.

Writing, composing and arranging his music, as well as creating his album artwork and videos, Yonezu has sparked a global sensation with a distinctive sound that moves between J-pop, electronic music and rock. His signature hit “Lemon”, released in 2018 as the theme song for the Japanese TBS drama “Unnatural,” topped Billboard Japan’s year-end chart for two consecutive years. The music video has surpassed 990 million views on YouTube, setting a record for a Japanese artist that it continues to extend.

His recent achievements have also been remarkable. “KICK BACK,” the opening theme for the popular anime “Chainsaw Man,” became the first Japanese-language song to receive Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). His sixth studio album, “LOST CORNER,” also earned widespread critical and popular acclaim and swept global charts. Fans are eagerly anticipating how his ever-evolving musical talent will take shape onstage at these Korea concerts.
