MC Hyeri, Hong Jin-kyung, Juun.J, Bae Jung-nam and Choi the Stylist Judge ‘Style Wars’—First Stills Revealed!

Age, profession and experience don’t matter! A nationwide fashion survival show where 72 people passionate about fashion go head-to-head on style alone premieres November 11.

Premiere date confirmed for November 11, Disney+’s original unscripted series 〈Style Wars〉 is a nationwide fashion survival show where 72 people passionate about fashion, regardless of age, profession or experience, go head-to-head on style alone. The first stills raise anticipation with dopamine-fueled, style-packed moments, from MC Hyeri’s captivating charm to the unpredictable judging of the four judges, each bringing their own criteria to evaluating the 72 contestants.

First, MC Hyeri will bring together contestants of different ages, from 19 to their 70s, each with a distinct personality, and connect fashion with their stories. The production team explained why it cast Hyeri: “We wanted to make a show that wasn’t an intimidating, sophisticated fashion program, but one that captured fashion and people’s stories.” They added, “Hyeri’s strengths are her warmth and the inner strength beneath it,” praising her ability to lower the barrier to a fashion survival show with her approachable charm and to connect naturally with the contestants. On set, Hyeri listened intently to the contestants’ stories, offering warm words of comfort and cheerful encouragement. She also noticed the smallest details in their looks and empathized with the stories behind their clothes, going beyond the role of host to connect the contestants’ styles with their personal stories.

Rather than judge contestants by a single standard, the production team selected four judges with distinct fashion philosophies and sensibilities: Hong Jin-kyung, Juun.J (Jung Wook Jun), Bae Jung-nam and Choi the Stylist. Hong Jin-kyung, a fashionista who embraces fashion in her own way, will look for the contestants’ individuality and personal tastes. Jung Wook Jun will professionally assess the beauty of each look, examining its silhouette, proportions, materials and styling. Bae Jung-nam will intuitively evaluate the appeal a person conveys through clothing—their so-called “swagger”—while Choi the Stylist will consider contemporary sensibilities from both an expert and a public perspective. Bringing together the perspectives of all four judges—on individuality, aesthetics, appeal and popular sensibility—the show is set to offer a more multidimensional look at the contestants’ styles. The production team explained its casting choices: “There’s no single right answer in style, so we felt it shouldn’t be judged by just one standard. We needed perspectives shaped by long experience with fashion in different fields.”

With such different perspectives in the mix, the judges’ tense disagreements are another highlight. During filming, heated debates sometimes broke out as judges who valued bold experimentation and individuality clashed with those who prioritized the polish and harmony of the styling. The production team said viewers shouldn’t miss the fun of seeing different perspectives and debating a style with no single right answer. “Judge Choi once said, ‘If everyone agrees, that’s not fashion—it’s a uniform.’ That line best captures the identity of 〈Style Wars〉. A highlight for viewers will be rooting for contestants whose styles they find impressive ‘by my standards,’ imagining, ‘Would I dress like this?’ and sometimes pushing back on a look criticized by the judges with, ‘I think they pulled it off.’”

Disney+’s original unscripted series 〈Style Wars〉 premieres Wednesday, November 11, with two episodes released every Wednesday. The series will have 10 episodes in total.
