Jay Park Joins ‘1SHOTBATTLE’… Eight Teams Face Off in Itaewon on the 21st of Next Month

A new evolution in street dance that breaks down genre barriers

A new paradigm for South Korea’s street dance scene is about to take shape with “1SHOTBATTLE.” The innovative cultural event, which brings dance battles and live performances together on one stage, will kick off in grand style on the 21st of next month at Hyundai Card Understage in Itaewon, Seoul.

The event, organized and produced by creative studio “One&On,” aims to be a full-fledged arts festival that goes beyond a simple dance competition. Universal Music, a global music industry leader, as well as Hyundai Card and Won Soju, a premium distilled soju brand, are partnering with the event, further enhancing its scale and credibility. Onstage, dancers, musicians, DJs and MCs will break down boundaries and connect with the audience, creating explosive synergy.

The most eye-catching feature is the event’s unique battle format. Eight top dancers will be selected through preliminary rounds in two street dance styles: hip-hop and breaking. Then, one hip-hop dancer and one breaking dancer will be randomly paired to form a team, with all eight teams facing off in a tournament on the main stage. With dancers from two distinct styles having to find their rhythm together on the fly, unpredictable twists and creative performances are expected to determine the winner.

The judging panel is also a standout. World-renowned dancer Kyoka and NautyOne, a leading figure in South Korea’s street dance scene, will bring their expertise to the judging. Icon of the pop music and dance scenes Jay Park and dance crew MVP are also expected to take the energy to a fever pitch by joining a special battle.

After the intense dance battles, an after-show live performance will bring dance and music together. Details of the performance lineup, which will delight audiences’ senses, will be announced in stages through official channels.
