Comfort from 1998 carries forward as hope for young people in 2024

Legendary Korean rock musician Kim Jong-seo is returning to audiences with a timeless message of comfort. According to his agency, Red Black Entertainment, his new single “You’ll Shine (Start Again)” will be officially released on various online music platforms at 6 p.m. on the 3rd.

The new song is a remake of “Start Again,” a track from Kim Jong-seo’s sixth studio album, released in 1998. It reimagines the song with a modern sensibility and a rich band sound. The original was widely loved for giving people who had fallen into despair amid the national crisis of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) currency crisis the courage and hope to rise again.

Now, 26 years later, “Start Again” has been transformed into a new anthem for young people today as they struggle through demanding daily lives and an uncertain future. Kim Jong-seo’s signature, emotionally powerful vocals blend with sophisticated arrangements, promising to move and resonate with both middle-aged and older listeners who remember the original and today’s generation of people in their 20s and 30s.

Alongside the release, a special live meeting with fans is also in the works. Kim Jong-seo will hold a Christmas concert on Dec. 25 at Mary Hall at Sogang University in Seoul’s Mapo District. The show will feature a live performance of the new song and a wide-ranging set of his many hit songs, giving audiences an unforgettable end to the year.
