[Seong Chan-eol’s Comics] I hesitated to recommend it, but 30,000 moviegoers leaves me saying ‘Give it a try’: 「The Dangers in My Heart」

I go crazy for subculture. I check out anything with fresh stories, settings or characters — not only films but webtoons, games, comics and animation. I entered the world of fandom through comics: as an adult I read comics as e-books and webtoons on my smartphone, a self-described 'kidult.' But it's less fun alone. I write Seong Chan-eol's Comics to share things that are more enjoyable together, seen from the perspective of an omnivorous fan.

[Interview] Park Ji-hoon, From Danjong to Kitchen Duty: Becoming an Actor Between Emerging and Established ①

It’s the first time a drama has leaned so fully into what the show dubs “chwiral” (a newly coined blend of "kitchen soldier" and "crazy"). After a single spoonful of seaweed soup, a sudden "god of seaweed" stages a mock "creation of heaven and earth," and after tasting a multicolored rice ball an...

[Joo Seong-cheol’s Locker] Zombie Things That Don’t Flinch Even When Shot: Korea’s First Zombie Film, “Kwe-si” (1981)

I can’t help but fixate on the objects in the movies. I find myself getting deeply lost in thought about why—of all things—this director, cinematographer, art director, or even the actor, placed that item in front of the camera. “Joo Seong-cheol’s Locker” is a record of the objects in films that landed on my eyes with a light, delicate stomp.
