Director Na Hong-jin's new film 〈Hope〉, his first in 10 years, will hit theaters next summer.

Distributor Plus M Entertainment announced on the 30th that the release date for Na Hong-jin's next film 〈Hope〉 has been confirmed for next summer. This will be the first release from Na Hong-jin since the film 〈The Wailing〉 (2016).

〈Hope〉 is set in a port village located in the demilitarized zone. The story depicts events that unfold when an unknown entity appears in this village.

The casting also presents a noteworthy combination. Hwang Jung-min plays the role of the village's branch office chief, Bum-seok, reuniting with director Na Hong-jin after 〈The Wailing〉. Jo In-sung appears as a village youth, while Jung Ho-yeon plays the role of a police officer.

Additionally, Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender, known globally for his roles in the 〈X-Men〉 series and 〈Alien: Covenant〉 (2017), along with Alicia Vikander, who starred in 〈The Danish Girl〉 (2016) and 〈Tomb Raider〉 (2018), will portray an unknown life form.

Director Na Hong-jin commented on the cast, stating, "They have expressed all the elements that the work aims to convey with the best talent and focus," adding, "The combination is tremendous."
