Model Han Hye-jin has sparked attention by revealing her honest self-assessment of the 500-pyeong villa in Hongcheon that she designed herself. Based on her three years of actual living experience, her confession vividly shows the 'gap between dreams and reality'.
In a video uploaded on the 7th to Han Hye-jin's personal YouTube channel titled 'Hongcheon Failed House… Honest Review', she shared various trials and errors she experienced during the construction and actual living process of the villa. In particular, she candidly acknowledged the gap between the design phase and actual living, stating, 'It's been three years since the villa was built. I spent over six months on the design, but there are many problems once you actually live here.'
The biggest issue pointed out was the design choices that prioritized aesthetics. Han Hye-jin expressed self-deprecating laughter, saying, 'I made the roof black and extended the building for style, but my mom jokes that it looks like a stable.' Her confession that she felt 'it really looked like a stable' while coming back from shopping starkly illustrates the disparity between ideals and reality.
In particular, designing the entrance to face north brought unexpected inconveniences. She revealed that in winter, the snow does not melt, making it difficult to open the door properly. Additionally, the outdoor shower facility, installed as a dream for outdoor living, has become virtually useless due to the security cameras installed for safety. She expressed her disappointment about the realistic constraints, saying, 'I live between dreams and reality, even though it's just me who sees it.'
Nevertheless, it is not considered a complete failure. Han Hye-jin added that 'installing a stove in the living room was a perfect choice,' indicating that there are also satisfactory aspects. Currently, she is balancing her life between Seoul and Hongcheon, finding harmony between urban and rural living.
