Main poster revealed, sublimated into the aesthetics of waiting
The play 〈Waiting for Godot〉 has unveiled its official main poster for 2025. This poster humorously and elegantly interprets the core theme of the work, 'waiting', and clearly reveals the setting of understudies. It visually captures the atmosphere and sentiment of the 2025 season at once. The intense primary color background, unique props symbolizing the characters, and expressions intuitively showcase the identity of this work that transcends the boundaries of everyday life and art.
Dramatic visuals filled with irony
In the poster, the poses and isolated appearances of the characters in the confined space of the dressing room sensibly express the dual irony of the work, as captured in the tagline 'The delightful return of those who wait!'. In particular, the characters gazing at the audience or making absurd and bewildering gestures vividly convey the unique meta-comedy of the work and the paradox of waiting, hinting at a new vitality for this season.
Stage dynamics created by the ensemble of casting
The biggest highlight of the 2025 season is the vibrant stage dynamics created by the casting and ensemble. The role of 'Esther', the understudy for Estragon in 〈Waiting for Godot〉, will be played by the master of the theater Park Geun-hyung and the beloved actor known for his unique performances, Kim Byung-chul. The role of 'Vladimir' understudy 'Val' will be taken by the delicately expressive Lee Sang-yoon and Choi Min-ho, who has diverse stage experience. The role of stage assistant 'Laura' will feature Kim Ga-young and Shin Hye-ok.
A meta-comedy paying homage to 〈Waiting for Godot〉
〈Waiting for Godot〉 is a meta-comedy play that pays homage to the absurdist classic 〈Waiting for Godot〉, depicting a day in the life of two understudies waiting for their chance in an old dressing room behind the scenes. The absurd yet philosophical conversations that unfold in the situation where 'the shoes don't fit, the coffee is getting cold, the script is difficult, and the director doesn't show up' convey deep reflections on reality, art, and existence beyond simple laughter.
