Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun Star in Netflix's 'Eun-jung and Sang-yeon' Premiering Next Month

Global streaming platform Netflix announced on the 12th that it will release a new series 〈Eun-jung and Sang-yeon〉 starring actors Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun next month.

This work highlights the complex relationship between two friends over 30 years, from their teens to their 40s. Eun-jung (played by Kim Go-eun) and Sang-yeon (played by Park Ji-hyun) live in a whirlwind of emotions, loving and admiring each other at every moment, while simultaneously feeling jealousy and hatred.

The teaser poster released by Netflix that day succinctly conveys the core message of the work. With the copy 'Between Admiration and Resentment', it features the two protagonists standing in front of a blurred photo of each other, symbolically expressing their intricately intertwined relationship.

The released trailer starkly reveals the conflict between the two friends. Scenes where Sang-yeon hurls harsh words at Eun-jung and Eun-jung retaliates with resentful words provide a glimpse into the hidden wounds and depths of conflict within their long-standing friendship.

The direction is handled by director Jo Young-min, who directed 〈Do You Like Brahms?〉 and 〈Understanding of Love〉. Director Jo explained about the work, saying, "'Companionship' is the color of this piece."

He expressed his expectations for the work, stating, "As we follow the lives of Eun-jung and Sang-yeon, we may encounter our past selves, think of friends, and touch upon our lives or the lives around us. I think we might come to understand and forgive someone, and also get to know ourselves better."
