Pop star Taylor Swift officially announced her 12th studio album 'The Life of a Showgirl' on the 12th (local time).

Swift revealed the album title herself during a preview of the popular podcast 'New Heights' released at midnight, saying, "It's my new album." In the video, she showed the physical copy of the new album, which appeared to be in LP (vinyl) format, but the album cover was intentionally blurred, making the specific artwork unidentifiable.

In this podcast, Swift appeared alongside her boyfriend Travis Kelce, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL, and the full episode is set to be released on the 13th (Korean time on the 14th).

On Swift's official website, a countdown ended at 12:12 AM on the 12th, marking the simultaneous start of pre-orders for three special limited editions of the new album: LP, cassette tape, and CD. The product descriptions state that shipping will begin before October 13, although the exact release date has not been disclosed, it is expected to be released before that date.

Details such as the official release date, track information, and completed artwork for the album will be announced later.

This new work is Swift's first album released about a year after she surprised everyone with her previous studio album, the 11th album 'The Tortured Poets Department', at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The 11th album was released during her large-scale world tour 'The Eras Tour', which garnered significant attention.

The Eras Tour, which spanned five continents over approximately two years, recorded sales of about $2.2 billion (approximately 3 trillion won), making it the highest-grossing concert tour in history.

In particular, 'The Life of a Showgirl' holds special significance as it is the first album Swift is releasing after reclaiming the rights to the music from her first six albums. In May, Swift stated, "All the music I have made until now belongs to me now," announcing that she had purchased the rights to her albums that were held by the private equity firm 'Shamrock Capital'. The specific purchase amount has not been disclosed.
