
Actor Min Seon-hong has been officially cast as the male lead in the new drama 〈Doctor Shin〉 by the controversial writer Im Sung-han (Phoebe). Min Seon-hong's agency, J Wide Company, announced on August 13th, "Min Seon-hong has confirmed his appearance in Im Sung-han's new work 〈Doctor Shin〉." 〈Doctor Shin〉 is Im Sung-han's first new work in about three years and is gaining attention as his first medical melodrama. This work is expected to break away from the existing family drama image, promising an intense story centered around a genius neurosurgeon, love, taboo, and desire intersecting.
Min Seon-hong will portray 'Shin Joo-shin', a genius neurosurgeon, showcasing dramatic emotions in situations arising from an accident involving the woman he loves. Im Sung-han plans to cast fresh faces for all lead and supporting roles through auditions, emphasizing realistic characters and novelty. 〈Doctor Shin〉 is currently being prepared with the goal of airing on TV Chosun in the first half of 2026.
Min Seon-hong is a rising star recognized for his acting skills in KBS2's 〈Oasis〉 in 2023 and 〈Fantasy Sonata〉 in 2024, and he joins the lineage of 'Im Sung-han's men' by being cast in the title role of Im Sung-han's work just two years after his debut. Im Sung-han previously gained attention with the line "Even cancer cells are life" in the MBC drama 〈Princess Aurora〉 aired in 2013. He has successfully launched new male actors into stardom, such as Lee Tae-gon from 〈Heaven's Will〉, Sung Hoon from 〈The Tale of Nokdu〉, and Oh Chang-seok from 〈Princess Aurora〉, raising expectations for Min Seon-hong's next leap forward.
