Uhm Jung-hwa, "My Rival at 25 Was Kim Hyun-jung"

Actress and singer Uhm Jung-hwa reminisced about her 25-year-old self.

In the 103rd episode of the web entertainment show 'Salon Drip 2' released on the YouTube channel TEO on the 12th, actors Uhm Jung-hwa and Song Seung-heon from the Genie TV original drama 〈My Troublesome Star〉 appeared as guests. 〈My Troublesome Star〉 is a romantic comedy that unfolds as Korea's top star suddenly becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman.

During the broadcast, when asked about what Uhm Jung-hwa was like at 25, she revealed, "I released my first album at 24. At 25, I only focused on acting for two years." Meanwhile, when asked by Jang Do-yeon about her rival at that time, Uhm Jung-hwa recalled, "I think it was Kim Hyun-jung. Every time Hyun-jung released a song, she was incredibly popular. There was even a rival stage between Uhm Jung-hwa and Kim Hyun-jung at the end of the year."

Additionally, when asked by Song Seung-heon if she intentionally set her concept at that time, Uhm Jung-hwa said, "That's right. At that time, there was completely no image director. There was no one to help define my image or style. When I debuted, I was worried about what concept I should debut with. At that time, there were many pure concepts like Kang Su-ji, Ha Su-bin, and Lee Ji-yeon. But I didn't look like someone with a pure image, so I went with a completely opposite concept. I think my debut song 'Eye' was well received," revealing her debut story.
